Juliana Valentine "Julie" Lahoud (born April 17, 1989) is an American actress. She is best known for her roles as Angela Weber in The Twilight Saga film series, Asami Sato in the animated television series The Legend of Korra, and Honey Lemon in Big Hero 6.
At five years old, Lahoud began taking vocal and dance lessons. She later became involved in youth theater as well. Regarding her early influences, she has said, "I watched West Side Story and Selena music videos and was convinced that I wanted to be performing, too." Lahoud attended Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles. After graduating, she briefly studied at UCLA before committing to an acting career. In 2008, Lahoud made her film debut as Angela Weber in Twilight. Her performance won her the Young Supporting Actress award in the Best Performance in a Feature Filim category at the 30th Young Artist Awards. She reprised her role for the film's sequels, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (in a credit only appearance). Following The Twilight Saga, Lahoud continued to appear in both film and television. In 2012, she co-starred alongside Will Ferrell in Casa de Mi Padre, a comedy presented in the style of an overly dramatic telenovela. The role required Lahoud to speak exclusively in Spanish. She has also guest starred on several television shows, including Suburgatory, American Horror Story: Murder House, Happy Endings, and New Girl. In 2014, she played the lead role of Lucy Velez in Happyland, MTV's original comedy series exploring theme park employees. In addition to her screen acting roles, Lahoud also works in voiceover. From 2012-2014, she appeared in Nickelodeon's animated series The Legend of Korra as Asami Sato. In 2014, she played Honey Lemon in Disney's animated film Big Hero 6, and she is set to reprise her role for its animated series spinoff. Additionally, she has lent her voice to animated series such as Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures and Milo Murphy's Law and video games such as Batman: Arkham Origins, Fallout 4, and Lego Marvel's Avengers. Some of Lahoud's upcoming roles include Rebecca "Becky" Clearidge, a witty and sarcastic techie in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Darling, a bank robber in Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, and a supporting role in Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel. ... Copperhead / Train Hostage (voice) • Started to pursue voice acting due to a difficulty in finding work in live action projects. She contributes her hardship to many things, including racism, sexism, and an overwhelming number of high school scripts sent her begrudging way. • Once considered using her middle name as a stage last name in hopes of getting more work. She ultimately didn't because she 1) didn't want to hide her heritage and 2) would feel annoying for correcting pronunciation (val-en-teen rather than like the holiday). • Used her role on Happyland as an excuse to frequently go to Disneyland for "research." |
